A judge has aided the South Korean electronics giant (uh,
Samsung) ward off legal attacks from U.S. rival
Apple by saying how their tablet devices aren't that similar and couldn't possibly be mistaken for each other.
Because the iPad is cooler!
According to Judge Colin Birss of the England and Wales Patents County Court, Samsung Tabs "are not as cool" as their iRivals. He continued.
"The informed user's overall impression of each of the
Samsung Galaxy Tablets is the following: From the front they belong to the family which includes the
Apple design," said Birss according to reports. "But the
Samsung products are very thin, almost insubstantial members of that family with unusual details on the back. They do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the
Apple design. They are not as cool. The overall impression produced is different."
Samsung were probably hoping for a more flattering defence of their vaunted Tablet computer, but a win is a win, no matter how unlikely the Judge's words.
