Samsung doesn’t skimp on the GS5’s little sister

While the miniaturised versions of leading brand flagships are usually a little… undercooked… Samsung has officially unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini. And there’s naught mousey about it!

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini bundles with some of the defining features that set its big sister apart in the wider smartphone race. The GS5 Mini has the front facing fingerprint scanner, that rear facing heart rate monitor and even offers that vaunted dust and water resistance rating, IP67.

Under the hood, the premium treatment continues: 1.4GHz quad core CPU, 1.5GB RAM, 16GM storage, 8MP rear cam, 2.1MP front cam, 2100mAh battery and a microSD slot and Samsung’s Ultra Power Saving Mode. And that’s without mention the fact this “Mini” boasts a FOUR AND A HALF INCH 720p HD Super AMOLED screen!

And while the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini boasts the raw power and the flashy features, the user experience should be similarly pleasant with Android 4.4 Kitkat smoothed over with TouchWiz UI, 4G enabled for superior connectivity, and NFC and Bluetooth 4 polish off the machine to machine experience.

No word yet on a precise release date or price point, but it’s a safe bet it’ll retail for a lower price than the GS5 proper and hit shelves before summer’s end.
