Our smartphones and tablets may soon be a whole lot more flexible. Lenovo is the latest to announce that it is working on bendable and flexible technology, and showed off a smartphone and tablet during its Tech World conference.
YouTuber Meghan McCarthy (hemeeyahello13) was on hand to demonstrate the technology. First she took a fairly standard-looking smartphone and wrapped it around her wrist. That should put an end to wondering where we left our phone. And then she took a tablet, bent it in half, and showed how it easily transforms into a device more suited to taking calls.
Lenovo’s Peter Hortensius told the crowd that not only do these devices have a bendable display, but they have bendable internal components too.
The company didn’t give too many details away about these bendable devices. We have no idea what they are called, when they’ll be out, or how much they’ll cost. However, Hortensius did say that McCarthy should be careful with them because "they cost a little bit more than your average phone or tablet right now." And that’s all we have to work with for now.
