LG may be joining several other smartphone manufacturers in cutting back the number of smartphones it releases next year with new reports suggesting that the company will release a single flagship phone in 2015.
The report comes courtesy of Korean site Heraldcorp. LG will allegedly concentrate its efforts on the G4. The Korean company apparently believes that there isn’t much to differentiate the G Pro and the G lines from one another, so it will focus on one over the other next year.
Recently, Business Korea reported that Qualcomm is experiencing issues with the Snapdragon 810 System-on-Chip (SoC). This chip is expected to power Android flagships next year, including the LG G4, the Xperia Z4, the Galaxy S6, and the HTC One (M9). These smartphones could be delayed as a result. However, Qualcomm remains confident that everything is on schedule.
It is unclear when the LG G4 is planned for release. LG hosted its own event during the summer to announce the G3 and may take a similar approach in 2015.
