Wireless charging tends not to be as quick as plugging a charger in, but LG may have found a new solution that will change that.
LG announced a new transmission module for wireless charging pads, which sees smartphones charge as quickly as they would when using a wired cable. The company claims that completely empty batteries get back to 50% charge in 30 minutes. For comparison, that’s about as quick as wired fast chargers for the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge.
Mass production is to get underway later this year, and you can expect to see this tech utilised in future wireless charging pads. LG says that it is compatible with a number of smartphones that support wireless charging.
Interestingly, the LG G5 doesn’t support wireless charging, but this looks to be the direction that LG’s future flagships will go.
