Usually, mobile OS updates are left in the hands of mobile operators, and can take some time to get to everyone. Microsoft will go direct by bypassing the operators and manage Windows 10 Mobile updates itself.
This means that new updates should arrive on your mobile device in much the same way as they do on your laptop or desktop. Windows 10 Mobile updates should also roll out at the same time as desktop ones.
Apple handles iOS updates in the same way, and it works pretty well for users.
Microsoft announced the news in a blog post. “Today, we're announcing this continuous update process applies to all Windows 10 devices, including phones,” it wrote.
The news means that everyone should have access to the latest features. It should also help keep the platform as secure as possible.
Windows 10 Mobile will add better desktop integration, universal apps that work across all devices, and a sleek new design.
The OS is expected to arrive later this year.
