Microsoft's Office becomes available for Android tablets

After a three month beta, Microsoft’s Office for Android tablets is now available to download from the Google Play Store.

The Microsoft Office suite is available for free for mid-sized tablets (a device with a screen of between 7- and 10.1-inches in size). It should be noted that the free version only features the basic versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

You will have to shell out for an Office 365 subscription if you want to take full advantage of all the productivity features. Similarly, those with larger devices will have to invest in an Office 365 subscription.

Microsoft Office Mobile lets users access, view and edit Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint documents on the go. You can access documents from OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, or SharePoint and make changes from practically anywhere.

Office for Android hit approximately 250,000 downloads during its stint in beta. The app can now be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
