The device features a larger 12-inch screen, but is thinner and lighter than its Pro 1 and Pro 2 predecessors. Microsoft also says that the Surface Pro 3 is 30% thinner and 26% lighter than an 11-inch Apple MacBook Air.
The device’s HD screen has a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 2,160 x 1,440 resolution. It features USB 3.0 connectivity, a microSD card slot and an Ethernet adapter. Once again, Microsoft is targeting laptops and MacBook’s as the Surface Pro 3 is designed to be suitable for productive tasks and media consumption. It comes with a new pressure-sensitive pen that allows users to write and scribble on the screen in red ink. Meanwhile, its new TypeCover has been modified and is thinner than its predecessors.
The device has been on sale in North America, but will reach 26 additional markets, including Ireland, on August 28th.
