Battery life has become the bane of modern smartphone usage - with a busy day requiring a frantic search for power outlets or the terror of an evening commute without a phone!
And there's no foolproof solution currently available - some phones last longer than others and have advanced battery saving capabilities but the energy is still finite, it will eventually waste. One way of getting around that is making charging itself much faster, giving you a full tank almost instantly.
That's the plan for Israeli company StoreDot, which is working hard to develop a new kind of battery that could revolutionize the industry. The build uses nano-technologyto store not only a very high charge but also do so quickly and retain it for a long period of time.
It's an entirely new technology, based around nanodotswhich will allow for a full days charge to be collected in as little as 30 seconds. That will make all the difference if you only have a couple of seconds before you have to leave for work and while the batteries are a little too bulky right now the company thinks it can have a mobile version working for 2016, and they're also working on one for electric cars.
