One of the few issues with modern day smartphones is that battery performance hasn't really improved in line with the advances in mobile processing, graphics and display technology - but that could all be about to change if Israeli company StoreDot has anything to do with it, as its new bio-organic battery technology promises a full charge in as little as 30 seconds.
The incredible tech, which you can see in action below, uses quantum dot technology to allow for the lightening fast charge times, however the company's CEO Dr. Doron Myersdorf has stated to tech website TechCrunchthat we could be as many as three years away from seeing a version of of the tech that'll be usable with smartphones.
We are about one year from a functional prototype that will be inside the device.Right now we show a battery that extends beyond the form factor of the smartphone. So in one year we’ll have reached the size, and in two years we’ll reach the required energy density for the entire day.So we are talking about three years for a commercial ready device. So I assume it will be three years before you can actually purchase it on the market.
