As this smartphone generation has increased in complexity and all round awesomeness the only major downside has been battery life. But its a pretty major one - its hard to enjoy full HD video on a gorgeous 5 inch screen when your phone is dead.
This energy crisis has a number of different workarounds - including just turning your phone off once in a while - and Samsung has just added another option with their Power Sharing Cable. It does what you would expect, allowing you to siphon off power from one device into another.
The cable even has an up and down arrow on its input and output micro USB connections, so you'll never get confused as to which way the energy is going. And the possibilities are vey appealing, including using your tablet to give your phone a boost or getting a few more precious hours out of your smartwatch.
The power out connection can only be made with certain devices - including the Galaxy S5, Tab S range, Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 4 but the other connection should work with any device. Samsung has also released a dedicated Power Sharing app which lets you decide just how much energy to share - so you don't end up with a dead phone.
It's all pretty neat and provides yet another option when that battery symbol starts to flash. Just take care not to drain your phone in favour of a peripheral that's useless without a data connection!
The Samsung Power Sharing Cable is available now.
