New Galaxy S7 feature will be familiar to iPhone 6S owners

Samsung could be taking some inspiration from Apple for a new feature in the Galaxy S7. It's reported that the Galaxy S7 will offer something similar to Live Photos, allowing users to not only take a photo but capture a little GIF of the moment, complete with sound.

Of course, Apple isn't the first to have experimented with this feature. Samsung itself had features called Animated GIF and Sound and Shot on the Galaxy S4. The former took a couple of photos and stitched them together as a GIF, while the latter added sound bites to images.

A software engineer at Samsung told Android Geeks that the team is working on a feature called Vivid Photos, which they hope will be ready to debut on the Galaxy S7. If it gets delayed, it could be added later in a software update.

You can download Animated GIF and Sound & Shot from the Galaxy apps store onto the Galaxy S6 if you want to get a blast from the past.

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S7 in February, so we'll soon see if they got the feature ready in time.
