Sony may not announce the Xperia Z4 at Mobile World Congress after all. That means that it has a gap to fill and this mystery handset may be the one to do so.
The phone, which has the model number E2303, appeared in benchmark results on both Geekbench and GFXBench. These sites indicate that it features a 5.2-inch 720 x 1280 display, an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 12 megapixel rear camera, and a 5 megapixel camera on the front. It was tested running Android 5.0 Lollipop. Interestingly, the handset comes with just 4GB of in-built storage.
These specs indicate that the new Sony Xperia handset is a mid- to upper mid-range phone. It is possible that it could be a successor to the Sony Xperia T3 or the Xperia C3. Of course, it could also be an entirely new thing.
Sony’s Mobile World Congress plans are not known for certain just yet. We’re hoping that the Xperia Z4 will make an appearance, but reports indicate that it won’t. However, this new handset may take the spotlight instead.
