OnePlus is working on a handset, which it claims will appeal to people who value a device’s design.
In an interview with PC World, the co-founder and Global Director of OnePlus, Carl Pei, revealed the company’s plans for the coming year. Of one of the devices in the works, Pei said, “I think it's going to be a phone catering to a different type of audience. Perhaps for those who appreciate design over specs."
A device that could be a 5.0-inch OnePlus One Mini was spotted last month, and that is one that he could be talking about. The specs of mini devices typically don’t live up to their larger counterparts. Perhaps OnePlus is hoping the design will be enough to attract users.
OnePlus is also expected to release the OnePlus Two later this year. Pei revealed, in a separate interview, that OnePlus has no plans to build a tablet. Wearables could be more likely, but he says that they haven’t “decided on what we are going to make next.”
The OnePlus Two should arrive in the second or third quarter of 2015. Pei promises that the handset will “surprise people.”
