Pebble was one of the first big Kickstarter success stories back in 2012, helping to bring real legitimacy to the crowd-funding site. And now they're back with Pebble Time.
For the sequel, you get a colour e-paper display in a design that's much thinner than the original, has shedloads of watch faces and is fully readable in sunlight. It's water resistant and has smartwatchy features - as well as working with both Android and iOS - which is a real plus. There's also a new microphone to add dictation to notes and a battery life of up to 7 days. Which might just be its most stand out feature in a sea of constantly recharging devices.
There's also a new display system called Timeline which organises everything based on a temporal viewof life - which is actually how humans work and makes a lot of sense. The animations are cute and the use of e-paper means its much easier to see in any kind of light. Doesn't it look like there are a lot of people working for Pebble now?
They're back on Kickstarter and already earning serious money - with more than $8.5 million earned in the first 24 hours, coming from more than 40,000 backers. The tiers currently start at $179, which is a 20 quid saving on the eventual price and finished models should ship in May 2015.
Get backing, if you have a mind.
