Since its launch, some have voiced their desire for a HTC Vive headset with fewer wires. Valve has listened to these concerns and linked up with Quark VR to make this a reality.
Quark VR is working with Valve to create a HTC Vive headset that features wireless connectivity. This would allow users to stream data to the headset rather than being tethered to their PC.
The transmitter is placed into the user’s pocket and connects to the headset’s existing wires. This then transmits data to a PC.
The concern, of course, is that there could be a delay in data being transmitted, which would detract from the experience. Quark VR believes that it has developed the perfect solution and is "extremely close to being able to show it in action." It hopes to be able to showcase its work this autumn.
