No Start Menu via incoming Windows 8.1 update

Windows 8 (and above) is a damn popular operating system. Of this there is no question. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t feature its share of detractors. Foremost among them would have to be the pointed removal of the classic, and classically useful, ‘Start Menu.’

Users were hoping/praying the Windows 8.1 update number 2, due around August or September would rectify this misstep. However ZDNet has word Microsoft will not be re-introducing this feature. Allegedly, the Start Menu’s reintroduction will have to wait until the next numbered version of Windows hits the shelves.

“Threshold” is expected to see an April 2015 launch window. And while there is no official confirmation that this is in fact Windows 9, it’s heavily rumoured to be the case. Long story short, we may be waiting another year before we can conveniently tap our Start Menu and suss out just what the hell is going on in our device…
