Nokia joining the Android launcher party

Nokia joining the Android launcher party
While Nokia may be under the ownership of Microsoft, it still has one eye on what’s happening in the Android scene. And while that scene may be bustling with custom launchers, Nokia will be adding one more option in the form of the Z Launcher.

The Z Launcher is a smart home screen replacement that tries to get you to your frequently used apps, sites and contacts as efficiently as possible. It learns your habits over time and adjusts the positioning of content in response. So, your calendar might be front and centre first thing in the morning, or your Instagram app may get prioritised on the weekend.

Alternatively, you can enter the first letter of an app to bring up search results; saving you from the navigation of all the apps you may have downloaded. Nokia is taking a leaf out of Microsoft’s book then.

It’s early days yet though. Nokia has released the software to a limited number of users as part of an alpha release.
