Nokia to demonstrate 4.9G tech at MWC

Nokia is teaming with American telecommunications company Sprint to demonstrate its new 4.9G technology at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, as revealed in a press release from Nokia.

The 4.9G technology will be demonstrated using 3D Beamforming software, and is capable of delivering gains of up to eight times the normal uplink throughput and five times the normal downlink throughput.

The purpose of the new technology is to provide mobile service operators with a method for improving the performance of their networks and managing infrastructure demands as they prepare for implementing 5G technology.

Nokia’s 4.9G technology will be made available for service providers at the end of the year.
