OnePlus is killing off its invite-only scheme for the OnePlus One, but the incoming OnePlus 2 will be harder to get your hands on. Like its predecessor at launch, you will need to be invited to purchase the OnePlus 2 when it’s released later this year.
It’s expected that the OnePlus 2 will arrive in the third quarter of the year. It’s already being tipped to feature a fingerprint ID sensor for security. This could bump the price up a little, but to soften the blow, there may be a middle ground handset released alongside the OnePlus 2.
It has been a year since the OnePlus One arrived on the scene, packing impressive specs and a reasonable price tag. It was previously available to anyone every Tuesday as part of an open sale, but now you can buy one without an invite any day of the week.
It’s likely that the OnePlus 2 will follow in its footsteps, but you will need to get your hands on an invite if you want to pick one up at launch.
