Orbotix Raises Another $20m
Robotic toy manufacturer in the money...

Orbotix, the robotic toy manufacturer behind the incredibly fun Sphero, has reportedly managed to raise another $20m in capital through an unexpected round of investment. The news comes from website TechCrunch, which says that it has so far been unable to identify the investors, but it'll be good news for everyone at Orbotix, as it means they'll have additional funds to work with ahead of the release of their next product, Ollie.

Although the company has always kept its sales figures close to its chest, it's estimated that it has managed to shift an incredible 500 million Sphero units which, given the retail price of $129, means that it was far from struggling financially. This new round of investment should allow the company to grow even further, and with Ollie coming later this year it's as good a time as any to secure the additional backing needed to really cement the company's place at the very top of the robotic toy industry.
