Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 last week and there’s still no sign of wireless charging. Despite the company’s public dismissing of the technology, however, a patent suggests that it is working on a wireless charging solution.
The document, as spotted by Patently Apple, focuses on ways of polishing and brushing metal, but also mentions an inductive charging station.
Apple has, of course, filed patents on wireless charging in the past. But it does indicate that Apple hasn’t given up on this technology just yet.
It was one of the features rumoured for the iPhone 7, though that’s probably because its competitors were implementing it. Perhaps it will arrive with the next generation iPhone.
