Pele is suing Samsung for $30 million

Brazilian football superstar Pelé has just filed a lawsuit against Koren tech giants Samsung over the unauthorised use of his image.

The suit all stems from this advertisement which recently appeared in The New York Times.

That is most certainly not Pelé and the star is saying that the image, used in conjunction with a specific kind of kick which he popularised, suggests that he is publicising this new Samsung TV. As a globally recognised brand, he's is usually well paid to associate with brands, and quite rightly is looking for the compensation from Samsung.

Now there's no mention of who the man on the left is in the ad but the case certainly has merit, and Samsung has yet to repond to the claim which was filed earlier in March 2016.
