If the
LapDock 500 Pro is a little bit out of your price range, or you simply don’t need something quite as hefty in terms of size and capabilities, then you might want to consider the
LapDock 100. While it doesn’t offer the built in webcam functionality of the Pro, nor the luxurious 14 inch screen, its
10 inch display is perfect for those of you who are concerned with portability above all else.
However, and this may prove to be a key factor for many of you, the track pad and accompanying mouse buttons are far, far superior in this model
LapDock than they are in its more expensive sibling. Why? We have absolutely no idea, but the fact of the matter is that it works a hell of a lot better than it should, given the disparity in pricing between the two models.
In fact, we’ll go so far as to say that the LapDock 100 is an all round better beast than the pro in general. Not only is it more compact, as well as being lighter, and with a better track pad and mouse buttons that actually click, but it just feels a better all round product. It doesn’t have the additional output for a projector, which may be a problem for those of you concerned with business applications, nor the
Ethernet port and
SD card slot of the Pro, but it does come equipped with the
dual USB ports, with both located at the rear of the device.
With the
RAZR connected you would be hard pushed to tell the difference between this and a genuine 10 inch netbook in terms of performance, which is a testament to the design team at Motorola, and it really does feel like a proper complimentary device, rather than the tacked on “not quite as good as it could have been” Pro version, which doesn’t happen particularly often in this industry.
In short, if you have a RAZR, or are planning on getting one in the near future, then the LapDock 100 is an absolute must have. Not only will it help you to get the most out of one of the most powerful phones in the market, but it’ll do it in style.
