Microsoft is hard at work producing its own Lumia devices, and the Lumia 940 looks like an exciting prospect if the rumoured specs are true.
The Microsoft Lumia 940 could be one of the first smartphones to use a Gorilla Glass 4 protective screen. This doesn’t actually exist yet, but it is in the pipeline and the Lumia 940 is allegedly positioned to take advantage of it immediately. This screen will protect a 5-inch display with a 1080p resolution.
Internally, the Lumia 940 will apparently have a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 and a hefty 3GB RAM. The device will feature a new PureView camera with a 24 megapixel resolution and will be capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera is to clock in at a decent 5 megapixels.
The leaked specs state that the Lumia 940 will run the as-yet-unreleased Windows Phone 10 operating system. This in itself suggests that the handset’s release is some time off yet. Bear in mind that these are unconfirmed specs, so they are subject to change. However, if they make it to the final product, Microsoft could be about to make a bold statement.
