Galaxy S5 owners in the UK will be pleased to hear that Samsung is rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in their region.
The operating system update can take a few days, but Samsung is aiming to get it out to customers as soon as possible. That means that your update may be ready to install by the time you read this.
Since originally releasing Android 5.0 Lollipop, Samsung has released Lollipop 5.0.1, which addresses some bugs and issues. It’s likely that Samsung wanted to get the 5.0 update out to customers to ensure that there were no further delays in customers being able to upgrade their OS. Another update to bring these customers up to the latest version of Lollipop will occur in the coming months.
The Android 5.0 update includes TouchWiz, Samsung’s customised interface; a redesigned interface, known as Material Design, which Samsung has incorporated into TouchWiz; lockscreen and heads-up notifications; MirrorLink; and an improved fingerprint sensor.
Keep an eye out for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the coming days. It is unclear if Ireland is being treated as part of this territory or if we will have to wait a while longer. We haven’t received any updates yet anyway.
