While Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 edge haven’t even been released, that hasn’t prevented the manufacturer from looking to the future. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 5 are expected to continue the trend of curved screens.
An unnamed source revealed to South Korean website ETNews believes that Samsung has ordered 8 million flexible panels a month in preparation for the Galaxy S7. The report also claims that the Galaxy Note 5, which will be released later this year, will come with a flexible OLED edge display.
There have been plenty of positive reactions to Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 edge with their curved screens, so it isn’t that surprising that Samsung would want to continue with a good thing.
The knock on effect of the curved screen going down so well is that Samsung is working to improve yields for Galaxy S6 edge displays. This should make it easier to get your hands on the popular device. Investments in the A3 facility have been postponed as a result.
