Samsung renames Dublin's D6 as S6

Samsung has managed to snap up the naming rights to Dublin’s suburb of Ranelagh, otherwise known as D6. It is now to be known as S6 to celebrate and coincide with the arrival of Samsung’s latest flagships in Ireland on April 10th.

Director of Samsung Ireland, Gary Twohig, said that Samsung is renaming D6 to S6 for the rest of the year. He added, “At Samsung we’re always ahead of the curve when it comes to innovation; so after months of negotiations we’re thrilled to have secured these rights to the aspirational residential suburb.”

Before you get too riled up, remember what day it is. Don’t expect signage for Ranelagh’s new postcode to start popping up any time soon.

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will be available in Ireland, whether you live in the newly renamed suburb or not, from April 10th. Those eager to get their hands on Samsung’s newest flagships can pre-order through Carphone Warehouse, Three and Vodafone this week.
