Samsung unveils Bixby virtual assistant

Samsung today unveiled a new addition to its long list of hardware and software offerings: the Bixby virtual voice assistant.

As revealed in a press release from Samsung, Bixby is a virtual assistant similar in format to Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa voice assistants but different to competitors' variants thanks to Bixby’s ability to fully support any app that becomes ‘Bixby-enabled’.

This means that Bixby will be able to support almost every task of an enabled app, rather than just the few selected tasks typical of other voice assistants.

Samsung’s Bixby launches later this month.
