Samsung will use 'new materials' on a phone this year
Samsung is known for its love of plastic coating, but the smartphone manufacturer will use “new materials” for one of its releases this year.

Samsung Mobile Senior Vice President Kim Hyun-joon informed investors that the company will release two more phones this year, one of which will be made from new materials. He didn’t go into detail as to what materials would be used, but it’s likely that we’ll see a metal-clad Samsung in the near future.

An unknown Samsung phone being used for research and development purposes was spotted in April with what was thought to possibly be an all-metal body. Perhaps this is what Samsung has in the works.

The Korean smartphone giant is expected to release the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Alpha this year. Perhaps one of these devices will get the honour of being made from something besides Samsung’s traditional plastic.

We’ve seen rival smartphone manufacturers embrace metal bodies, and it’s worked out quite well for them, so it would make sense for Samsung to follow in those footsteps.
