Are you one of the 99% of people who want to skip stones, but can’t at the moment? Then
Skippy the robot should be able to help you out. Regardless of where you are in the world, you can visit Skippy and have him chuck a stone at your command. It’s a double bonus for those who can’t actually skip stones in the first place. All you have to do is adjust its aim, tweak the amount of force behind the pitch and dispatch a rock.
The scheme was established as a promotional tool for
Idaho's Sun Valley resort area during the summer months. It’s hard to know if it is working considering the video feed doesn’t show anyone else in sight, but it’s a unique concept. There are a couple of things to note. Skips are played out in real time and you can watch others, but you will have to join the queue to skip a stone. You can choose to receive an e-mail when it’s nearly your turn, but be sure you don’t miss it as you’ll forfeit your go. Secondly, Skippy is afraid of the dark. That’s one robot we won’t have to worry about when the uprising happens so.
You can
try out Skippy here and watch other people’s skips in action. Naturally, there are links if you would like to find out more about
Sun Valley.
