Sony hops aboard the selfie train with the Xperia C3
The selfie trend has been going from strength to strength thanks to Gerard Butler and Bradley Cooper’s selfie at Wimbledon last year, the Oscars photo that was tweeted around the world and all the parodies that followed. Sony today decided to get in on the action with the Xperia C3, which has a 5 megapixel wide-angle lens and LED flash for self-portraits.

Sony’s selfie offerings go beyond the camera itself. The Xperia C3 will also boast software enhancements like retouching, auto-scene modes and quick sharing. Sony shows off some of the added features in the introduction video below. Like other recent releases in the Xperia line, the C3 will allow users to broadcast in real time through Social Live, create Vines, and add artistic effects.

The Xperia C3 features a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display along with a 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor, 1GB RAM, and 8GB storage, which can be expanded through microSD cards up to 64GB. It also comes with a 2,500mAh battery and will run Android 4.4.2.

The Xperia C3 will be available in black, white and mint. It will launch globally from August 2014 starting with China as the first launch market.
