Sony released the SmartBand 2 app on the Google Play store, possibly confirming the upcoming release of a new wearable.
The app has since been pulled, but not before precious information was gleaned. The Sony SmartBand 2 will add some much-desired fitness features, including a heart rate monitor and pulse-training workouts in the app. There’s also a "smart wake up" feature to make it easier to wake in the morning.
Like its predecessor, the SmartBand 2 is able to track steps and sleep, alert wearers of incoming messages on their phone, and vibrate when they have an alarm. It can also be used to log your life. Pressing a dedicated button takes a snapshot of all the data it has at any given moment, so you can keep tabs on important moments in your life.
Sony hasn’t officially announced the SmartBand 2 just yet. But with its addition to the Google Play store, it’s only a matter of time before we hear more about Sony’s new wearable.
