Sony Xperia M4 Aqua brings high-end design to mid-range market

The Xperia Z4 did not make an appearance at Mobile World Congress, but instead we got a look at the attractive Xperia M4 Aqua.

Sony’s latest mid-range handset takes cues from premium handsets in its design. Even though it’s encased in plastic, the Xperia M4 Aqua looks like it’s made of metal. Even when you look at it up close, you could be forgiven for thinking it has a metal body.

The Xperia M4 Aqua has a 5-inch 720p screen, a Snapdragon 615 processor, and 2GB RAM. Notably, the Xperia M4 Aqua runs Android 5.0 Lollipop right out of the box. Waterproofing is also a key component here. The handset is more than capable of taking a dunk in up to 1.5m of water for up to 30 minutes.

While you won’t get some of the latest and greatest camera features of the Xperia range, the Xperia M4 Aqua’s camera is more than capable. It has a 13 megapixel Exmor RS rear camera and a 5 megapixel wide angle camera on the front.

Sony didn’t reveal when the Xperia M4 Aqua will be released. However, we do know that it will retail for €299.
