Chinese site IT168 has posted images of what it’s calling the Xperia Z3. The images show that this device has a metal frame and the site is reporting that it’ll have a PVD coating. This would make the device more resistant to scratches, make it more resistant to impacts, and more corrosion resistant. Anything that boosts the durability of smartphones is welcome in our books.
In addition, the Xperia Z3 will supposedly come with a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 420 graphics chip. The site also mentions that the device will have a 1080p display.
It’s early days yet, so it is worth taking this leak with a pinch of salt. However, if it is accurate, it looks as though the Xperia Z3 could be a worthy successor to the Z2. The report suggests that Sony will announce the Xperia Z3 as early as August.
