Sony Xperia Z4 may feature world's first high-speed and high-sensitivity CMOS sensor

Sony’s recent smartphone outings have emphasised the importance of the camera and, if leaks are to believed, the Xperia Z4’s camera could be better than anything we’ve seen before.

According to a leak obtained by Chinese website CNBeta, the Xperia Z4 could be the first smartphone to feature a high-speed and high-sensitivity CMOS image sensor. It will allegedly sport a camera with a IMX189AEG CMOS image sensor.

This sensor will be capable of recording 2K video at 16,000 frames per second, and 4K video at 240 frames per second. While the Xperia Z3 is capable of shooting at these resolutions, the Xperia Z4 will be faster and smoother than its predecessor.

It may seem like it’s too early for Xperia Z4 specs to be leaked, considering the Xperia Z3 was launched recently, but it’s likely that Sony will announce the device early in the New Year. Typically, Sony announces a new handset at Mobile World Congress, which will take place in March.
