The Xperia M2 Aqua can be submerged in up to 1.5m of fresh water for 30 minutes. It has a 4.8-inch display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB storage. It features an 8 megapixel camera, which can be used underwater because the Xperia M2 Aqua has a dedicated camera button.
Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile, Calum MacDougall, described the release of the Xperia M2 Aqua as a significant milestone in the company’s product portfolio as it introduces a signature technology, waterproofing, to another category of devices. He added, ““The popularity of Xperia M2 showed us that there was a huge demand for premium Sony features at an affordable price-point. Following consumer feedback, we’ve now taken this a step further by bringing our waterproof expertise to a mid-range smartphone for the first time with Xperia M2 Aqua.”
The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua will be available in black exclusively from Vodafone at €199.99 on Pay as You Go and from Free on all Vodafone RED plans.
