Swarovski adds some sparkle to wearables market

Wearables have gotten a bad rap over their appearance, but Swarovski’s Shine range is out to prove that they can be fashionable as well as functional.

Swarovski is releasing two eye-catching Misfit Shines as part of the Swarovski Shine Collection. The first features a crisp, clean design with a beautiful crystal face. The more intriguing model features solar charging, as well as a distinctive violet colour. Swarovski claim that this device is the first wireless activity and sleep tracker to utilise this charging method.

Naturally, they have actual functions besides looking good on your wrist. The Shine range will be capable of tracking steps, distance, sleep metrics, and calculating burned calories.

Those who own a Shine wearable will be part of an exclusive club. Don’t expect them to be too easy to buy. They are currently available to pre-order in the States on misfit.com. They will be available via Swarovski stores in the US, Hong Kong and China in the spring. No price has been announced, but they probably go by the mantra that if you have to ask the price, the wearables are not for you.
