Android Wear smartwatches have already hit the market, with devices from LG and Samsung out right now. But most people are waiting for the upcoming smartwatch from Motorola and for good reason, it looks most impressive indeed.
The Moto 360 stands out from the Android Wear crowd with its rounded face and sleek design and there's another reason to check it out now - QI wireless charging. Italian site Mister Gadget has got some hands on time with the charging dock and its a lot less fiddly than the options on rival devices, not to mention the watch looks cool while charging.
Close up photos of the rear reveal that its going to be water resistant with an IP rating of 67 - so impervious to dust and ok for immersion in water to 1 meter. Though you probably shouldn't. There's also an optical heart sensor included and the case seems to confirm that at least some of it is stainless steel, going against recent rumours that the body would be mostly made from plastic.
With reviews for the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live generally quite mediocre, most are looking to the Moto 360 to confirm whether Android Wear is going to be a success. And if aesthetics are anything to go by (which they surely are in this part of the industry) then the 360 is already way out in front.
Now we just have to wait and see how it performs.
Motorola has said that the Moto 360 will launch in Summer 2014 and with August already upon us you should expect a confirmation of a slipped release or launch date asap. Sign up here to find out when its going to launch.
