Virtual Reality is going to do some wondrous and amazing things in the coming months and years and you can see the beginning of these ideas today.
For example one fellow was getting bored sitting on his treadmill everyday staring at a wall and decided he'd rig up a system to combine Google Street View with VR using a Galaxy Gear. The result is a system that lets him 'cycle' the length of the UK.
Here's the start of the journey.
It's definitely more interesting than looking at a wall for 30 minutes a date but it took some work to get to this level, including a system for measuring the pace of the exercise bike and syncing that with progress along a set path in Google Street View.
Today he posted a new video which shows his progress, now between 500 and 600 kms into the journey. The app still isn't all that stable but there are interesting features like pop up info for the towns he's passing through.
Aaron is a third of the way there, or was in July, with plenty of days left to go and he'll certainly be the first person to make this journey in VR- and probably not the last!
