Microsoft launched Windows 10 in July 2015 and made the decision to give it away to pretty much everyone for free.
That's a good and noble move. However since then that karma has been seriously undermined by a little thing called the Get Windows 10 app, which is one of the most annoying things ever created by the hands of man.
If you have a PC you've almost certainly seen it because it pops up every time you start your freaking computer and asks if you would kindly install Windows 10. 'Ah go on' it says. 'Go on, go on, go on, go on.... go on!'
You can say now by clicking all of those various pop ups away but they will soon return, and in greater numbers.
The app has been up to other things as well, including secretly downloading the huge install files and taking up your hard drive space or in some cases actually upgraded your software without your permission.
I get that Microsoft wants as many people as possible on Windows 10, and it is a pretty good operating system, but the constant pestering is beyond annnoying.
So it's good news that the Get Windows 10 app will be removed in the not too distant future - or at least that it will be disabled from the 29th of July. After that you should be free from more annoyances, though you will have to pay almost €200 for a copy of Windows 10 if you change your mind in the future.
Ah go on...
