Tinder starts charging for Likes

How much would you pay to be able to swipe right on your possible future soulmate? That appears to be what Tinder is trying to find out as it rolled out its Tinder Plus premium offering in the Netherlands.

Users found that after swiping right one too many times, a pop-up window would appear telling them that they’re “out of likes.” To continue swiping, they can either wait 24 hours, a method utilised by those addictive match-3 games, or pay a fee per month to get Unlimited Likes with Tinder Plus.

Tinder hasn’t officially revealed how much Tinder Plus will cost and it seems like it doesn’t know what the sweet spot is. Users have reported a variety of prices ranging from just €2.99 in the app store to either €9.99 or €14.99 via the app itself.

The service may also be experimenting with the number of free swipes you get before it prompts you to pay. Are you going to be more picky before swiping right? Will you pay to be able to swipe to your heart’s content? Or will you simply look for another service?
