As part of the latest update to its mobile applications, Twitter now allows users to post as many as four images as part of a single tweet - all without taking up valuable character space on the short messaging service.
Known simply as "collage" the feature is aiming to bring a whole new level of image sharing to the Twitter service, potentially enabling it to go toe to toe with the likes of Instagram. Furthering the social aspect of posting images as part of tweets, users will now also be able to tag up to ten of their friends in each picture - without the tags actually being visible.
Hopefully collage can take off, because it does have the potential to really change the way Twitter is seen and used by a more mainstream audience - although with around 241 million users per month, it's clear that the service doesn't really need any help to attract users!
The iOS version of the update is now available from the Apple iTunes Store, while the Android version can be downloaded from Google Play. Similar additions are planned for the browser-based version of Twitter in the very near future.
