Twitter tweaks notification format

Say goodbye to clogged inboxes.

Twitter tweaks notification format
If you are a Twitter user that enjoys the rush that comes with each new e-mail telling you that you have earned another follower, you are in for a shock. Twitter is rolling out a change which will mean that users will only get one e-mail and multiple new followers will be included in this notification. For the rest of us, this means that our inbox won’t get clogged up if we manage that one golden tweet that earns us followers overnight.

The new notification digest compiles all new followers into one e-mail showing their profile information and any users you follow who are already following them. However, it does lose out on information such as the user's follower, following, and total tweet numbers. It is not as drastic a change as it could have been as notifications will be sent out daily. This strikes the balance of keeping people up to date with new follower information while not going overboard.

The changes in the notification format are currently being rolled out to all users, so you may have already experienced the change. This is the latest in a series of changes which the social network is making. It has already adjusted its advertising methods in several countries, started allowing certain verified accounts to write longer tweets, and started showing trends based on a user’s personal network.
