Ulysses is brought to life with Oculus Rift
James Joyce's Ulysses is a challenging read, but one filmmaker is hoping to give readers a different perspective on the tale thanks to Oculus Rift.

Irish filmmaker Eoghan Kidney has launched a crowdfunding campaign to the tune of €4,000 to create In Ulysses, which lets users explore a virtual world while a narrator reads the story. They will hear Stephen's thoughts as they are written and these are then illustrated in real-time using textual annotations, images and links. But users are also free to explore the world and these images.

The initial campaign acts as a prototype. Just one chapter, Proteus, will be featured, but Kidney hopes that it will lead to other parts of the book being covered.

You can see why Kidney is tackling the book and some rough footage from the prototype in the video below. The Fund it campaign finishes in just a couple of days, but has raised €3,000 of its €4,000 target.
