The Huawei P9 has been revealed and it on its way to retail around the world, and it turns out its not alone.
We had heard a rumour that there would be a P9 Lite version of the new smartphone but Huawei has so far remained quiet on the matter. But that's a bit moot now as the handset appears to be on sale.
A Romanian site has a listing for 'Huawei Mobile Phone 4G Dual SIM Lite Venus P9 Black' which is still live as of now. It suggests that the phone will come with a 5.2 inch screen at 1080p as well as a 13 megapixel camera on the back and an 8MP sensor on the front.
This model has 16 gigs of internal storage (expandable by up to 128 gigs via microSD) and comes with 2 gigs of RAM and an Octa-core Kirin HiSilicon 650 chip. It's not the fastest phone around, but does have a large 3000 mAh battery.
The list price appears to be under €300 ex VAT, which puts this firmly in the mid range and the specs are pretty much in line. It certainly lacks the dual camera set up of the regular P9 handset, but it sounds more than adequate in terms of performance.
There's still no official word from Huawei on the P9 Lite, more as we get it.
