VIDEO: See why celebrities turn off push notifications for social media

We love getting a push notification from an app telling us that someone liked what we posted or felt that it was worthy of a share. But it seems unimaginable what that might be like to get thousands of those notifications at once.

Until now, that is, as Demy de Zeeuw, who runs soccer-focused Instagram account @433, decided to share exactly what the experience is like. The account has 8 million followers, so de Zeeuw put up a post, turned on Push notifications, and then started recording.

Thousands of notifications roll in, filling his phone’s home screen, and whipping by before anyone would have a chance to read what they said.

If you’ve ever wondered why someone didn’t notice your tweet, comment, or post, perhaps this gives some insight as to how easy they can be to miss…and how overwhelming it might be to keep up interaction.
