Windows 10 adds achievements

Microsoft is well aware of the lengths that some people will go to in order to unlock achievements. To tempt users to try Windows 10, Microsoft is adding achievements to the new operating system.

The latest build of Windows displays on-screen notifications when you complete certain tasks. As seen in the screengrab from Neowin, the message explicitly uses the wording “earned an achievement.” In this instance, it is a thank you from Microsoft for joining the Windows Insider program.

We’re guessing that Microsoft will use this feature to teach users how to use Windows in general, but also the exclusive features of Windows 10. They can also be used to entice users to explore Windows in a way that they typically would not. Perhaps Microsoft will reward people for not using the Start Menu in a bid to wean users off it.

What achievements would you like to see implemented in Windows 10?
