Windows 10 Mobile to add fingerprint reader support

Microsoft is planning to add support for fingerprint readers in Windows 10 Mobile this summer.

The feature will be added with the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft said at its WinHEC conference this week.

The first device to get this functionality will be HP's Elite x3. Windows phone makers are yet to reveal if they will take advantage of this functionality and add fingerprint scanners to their devices.

Microsoft is expected to release the Windows 10 Anniversary Update in July.
