Microsoft today announced that the “Denim” update for Windows Phone will roll out in the near future.
The company’s official Lumia Twitter account revealed that the upcoming update “will roll out soon following testing and operator approvals." The tweet was in response to one Windows Phone user who asked why there was no sign of Denim despite it being the last week of November.
Those awaiting the update may have to be patient. The company is yet to be any more specific as to when the update will roll out. And “soon” could mean almost anything.
UK mobile operator O2 said on November 17th that Microsoft was yet to send the Denim update for testing. It added that some Lumia handset owners may have to wait until 2015 as a result, though some handsets will receive it sooner.
The Denim update will implement a number of camera improvements; introduces Cortana voice activation; and enables compatible Lumia devices to show more at a glance. Let’s hope these features are worth the wait.
